Daily Recap — July 23

If any of you see President Trump, could you ask him to slow down a bit?

Eh, what am I saying. Full speed ahead!

IRAN MIGHT WANT TO CHILL ON THE THREATS

.

.

PDT made it clear late last night that the days of Iran threatening our country ended on January 20, 2017. And he did so in all caps.

“To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!” Trump tweet-yelled.

The tweet came after Rouhani issued a warning to PDT about the possibility of “the mother of all wars.”

In a speech to Iranian diplomats yesterday, Rouhani cautioned PDT to steer clear of pursuing hostile policies against Iran, especially since his regime faces renewed economic sanctions pursuant to The Donald’s decision to withdraw the U.S. from the Iran Deal. “Mr Trump, don’t play with the lion’s tail, this would only lead to regret,” Rouhani said.

Note to Mr. Rouhain: Our lion is much bigger and meaner than yours.

“America should know that peace with Iran is the mother of all peace, and war with Iran is the mother of all wars,” Rouhani said. “You are not in a position to incite the Iranian nation against Iran’s security and interests.”

Fact check: the only thing “inciting the Iranian nation” is the Iranian population itself. The younger generation hate their government and are very pro-Western. Sanctions is only going to make things worse for Rouhani in that regard, and he knows it.

.

PDT’s tweet also followed a speech delivered by Secretary of State Pompeo to a group of Iranian-Americans, who he informed that the revolution they’ve waited so long for may indeed be on the way:

“There are times when things happen that are unexpected, unanticipated; our revolution would be one of them,” Pompeo said Sunday night at the Ronald Reagan Library.

“We don’t know the right moment, we don’t know the day,” he continued, “but we do know the things that the world is obligated to do, so that when the right time comes — when the right moment comes — the opportunity is even more likely to find it’s fulfillment.”

Translation: The Iran Deal is off, sanctions are back in place, and the pressure is on.

The Trump administration has engaged in a campaign of speeches and online communications that bypass Iran’s censorship of the internet in order to get the word out to the Iranian people that Obama is no longer in the White House.

.

.

BIG PICTURE:

.

Obviously, no one wants a war. And a revolution, to the extent one happens, is the Iranians’ to have.

The fact still remains, though, that the Iranian problem won’t go away simply by putting our heads into the sand and saying “not our problem.” As PDT warned us 20 years ago about North Korea, when bad people seek nuclear weapons, it’s best to handle the problem long before they get them, while we still can.

We’re playing this thing smart, in my opinion, as our main strategy seems to be to help the Iranian people along to where they want to go anyway. It’s always preferable to have these problems handled from the inside. No American lives, minimal American treasure.

That being said, if Rouhani shoots off his mouth again, he may see a hellfire missile coming toward his bedroom window.

Just as they stopped harassing our ships on the open waters, I doubt the Iranians will threaten war against us again.

CLEARANCE REVOKED?

.

In a move that would surely break the Guinness record for most people yelling “it’s about time!” simultaneously, PDT is considering removing security clearances belonging to former officials who served in high-level positions during the Barry Soetoro years.

Sarah Huckabee Sanders said today that the president is exploring the prospect of removing security clearances belonging to the communist former CIA Director John Brennan, who should have never had one in the first place, and other former officials..

“Making baseless accusations of improper contact with Russia or being influenced by Russia against the president is extremely inappropriate and the fact that people with security clearances are making these baseless charges provides inappropriate legitimacy to accusations with zero evidence,” Sanders told the Fake News.

.

The whole thing seems to have started with Rand Paul, who disclosed on Twitter earlier today that he planned to ask PDT to revoke Brennan’s security clearance, accusing him and others of leveraging their clearances for that sweet Fake News guest spot money.

That’s a legitimate beef, to be sure, but only one in a whole slew of ’em. Brennan has publicly accused PDT of “treason” for his performance in Helsinki and suggested that it exceeded the threshold of impeachment for “high crimes and misdemeanors.” It appears that Brennan knows neither the definition of treason nor the most basic facts of law. Pretty astounding for a man who once led the CIA, but again, par for the course for a communist.

The response has been predictable, with many calling it “Nixonian” and “an effort to crack down on political enemies.”

Pro tip, coochie cappers: when you refer to the heads of the intelligence community as the president’s political enemies, YOU’RE PROVING HIS POINT.

Sarah Sanders added the president is also reviewing the “mechanisms” to remove security clearances belonging to Leakin’ James Comey, former NSA Director Michael Hayden (I met him, useless bureaucrat), former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper (he should have had his clearance revoked after lying to Congress), former Obama national security adviser Susan Rice (too many reasons to list) and former FBI Deputy Director Deep State McCabe.

.

BIG PICTURE:

.

The good news is, most of the folks being threatened with revoked clearances have already lost them.

The other good news is that the intelligence community operates by a concept called “compartmentalization,” meaning people only see what information is relevant to their mission. I’m not aware of any missions these folks would be working. That’s not to say someone on the inside can’t feed them info, but that would be illegal. #BelieveMe, I’m not saying that Obama holdovers are incapable of doing something illegal. I’m just saying that a clearance would be irrelevant in that case anyway.

All the same, these people belong nowhere near a clearance and never did. I’m glad Sen. Paul and PDT have pointed that out.

THAT’LL TEACH US TO READ THE NEWS

.

.

We were all filled with a righteous anger last Friday when it was revealed that Tony Podesta would receive immunity to testify against his old lobbying buddy Paul Manafort. It appears that our anger was premature, as the judge at the helm of his case confirmed that no such immunity has been given.

U.S. District Judge T.S. Ellis today revealed the identities of the five witnesses that actually were granted immunity.

The witnesses, who King Bob Mueller submitted for immunity last week and whose identities were not released publicly until today, are James Brennan, Donna Duggan, Conor O’Brien, Cindy Laporta and Dennis Raico.

Each of the witnesses are connected to financial institutions, which would make sense seeing as how Manafort is essentially being accused of sneaking foreign lobbying money past Uncle Sam.

.

Manafort’s trial has been delayed until July 31.

My anger at being misled by Fake News, however, is set to begin immediately.

INFRASTRUCTURE FINALLY?

.

.

Rep. Bill Shuster (R-PA), the chairman of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, released a draft of the infrastructure plan that was supposed to hit the House floor over a year ago. It addresses possible funding sources for a number of potential projects and levies taxes on multiple fuel sources.

It also calls for significant federal investment in infrastructure projects and grant programs through at least 2021. It includes billions of dollars in grant funding, as well as trillions in appropriations for projects of national significance (LIKE THE FRIGGIN WALL MAYBE?). It’s important to note, however, that the numbers and everything else in the bill are subject to change.

.

To provide partial funding, the draft calls for a 15-cent-per-gallon tax on gasoline and a 20-cent-per-gallon tax on diesel. Ouch. The increases would be phased in over a 3-year period. At that point, the fees would be indexed to inflation before they are ultimately eliminated in September 2028.

Shuster’s plan includes “corresponding increases in similar user fees on alternative fuels,” such as a 10% tax on the wholesale price of bicycle tires on adult bikes, as well as a 10% tax on the price of electric car batteries.

It’s hard to say where PDT stands on things, but he has previously voiced support for using a gas tax hike to pay for infrastructure projects. In fact, he said he’d favor a 25-cent increase, whereas Shuster is only calling for 15.

The draft also calls for the Secretary of Transportation to award grants for national infrastructure projects, with 30% of the money allotted toward projects in rural areas. Hey, that’s us, Trump voters!

.
The proposal also aims to reform the Highway Trust Fund to keep it solvent. It would establish a Highway Trust Fund Commission, consisting of 15 members. The group would conduct a study on the nation’s highway system and submit a report on its findings by Jan. 15, 2021.

Shuster mainly wants his proposal to serve as a conversation-starter:

“This discussion draft does not represent a complete and final infrastructure bill. It is meant to reignite discussions amongst my colleagues, and I urge all Members to be open-minded and willing to work together in considering real solutions that will give America the modern day infrastructure it needs,” he said.

“Over the coming weeks and months, I look forward to additional input from my Republican and Democratic colleagues in order to prepare a bill for congressional consideration,” he added.

Ooooof, careful with that Dim input. They aren’t so level-headed these days.

.

BOTTOM LINE:

.

This sounds good, but I’d be surprised if any sort of legislation hit the House floor before the midterms. I’d be surprised if much of anything substantive got done before the midterms, frankly. The Swamp is focused on the only thing they’re good at: getting reelected.

But who knows. Maybe PDT can force the issue.

WE’VE REACHED PEAK TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME

.

.

But the good news is, a leftist state has discovered the 10th amendment.

Massachusetts lawmakers have passed a bill that will repeal a more-than-150-year-old law banning abortion, a response to the hysterical and ignorant fears of what would happen if Judge Kavanaugh is OMG CONFIRMED TO THE SUPREME COURT.

The Negating Archaic Statutes Targeting Young Women — or NASTY Women Act — is expected to be signed soon by Republican Gov. Charlie Baker.

The bill officially repeals a 173-year-old law against “procuring a miscarriage” — EVEN THOUGH ABORTION IS ALREADY LEGAL IN THE STATE.

.

You know what? Let’s just end this stupid story right now before I lose too many IQ points to finish the recap.

FACT: Even if Roe v Wade were overturned, Massachusetts and every other state would be able to enact their own abortion policy. The decision will simply go back to the states, where it belongs.

These people are idiots.
