For years now, it has been widely accepted that there are “two Americas.” Conservative vs liberal, red vs blue, patriot vs ingrate; however one chooses to characterize the current landscape, there can be little debate that we have become defined by polarization.
There are myriad reasons for the hellscape in which we find ourselves. For one, social media has allowed competing political, racial and ideological tribes to limit their informational diets to self-affirming junk food, delivering red meat to the masses tailor made to satiate whichever biases happen to be on the menu. But this is not new. Facebook and Twitter have been a staple of American life for over a decade now and, sad as it is, we know the adverse effects of the dopamine high. Family members disown one another, relationships fail, confirmation bias lends itself to credulity on a macro scale.
I wish what we were seeing in our country right now could be chalked up to the intellectual laziness that comes with online tribalism. I wish this was merely another episode of viral video groupthink, as we saw with the Covington kids. Unfortunately, the reality on the ground does not afford me that luxury. The truth is, what we’re seeing is the culmination of an array of anti-American forces that have been at play for decades—some would argue centuries—that seek to dismantle the American experiment as we know it.
The disdain for our history pushed by our school system—esepecially the university system— along with the revisionism that seeks to replace it; the overt push to remove God from the public square; the defining of America as inherently racist, exploitative and oppressive — all these ideological weapons have been deployed by our very own institutions. Our media, school system and legislatures have worked in tandem to bring America to her knees, be it through death by a thousand lashes or the proverbial boiling frog. It has been an ongoing process and it can no longer be ignored. The inmates are running the asylum. It is in the streets of every major city in America.
And now, it has a ground zero: the area formerly known as Seattle, Washington.
A toxic mix of anarchists, communists, communists using anarchy as a means to their end, black separatists and virulent anti-white racists have joined together to quite literally take control of a major American metropolitan area, effectively seceding from our country to create their own “autonomous zone.”
There are signs posted throughout declaring police to be unwelcome by decree of the mob, the area in question being a six-block zone in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of the city, which has been declared its own jurisdiction by Antifa. What was once a police precinct has been occupied and turned into a “community center.” The police chief insists that the police force is still functioning, and the boarding up of the precinct is just a precautionary measure against whatever incendiary devices may be thrown their way by the ever-peaceful protestors still mourning the death of St. George Floyd.
The time for mincing words is over. This is nothing less than the defeat of law enforcement and subsequent occupation of a hostile force in a major American city.
Below is the occupied territory within Seattle as of today:
As tends to happen with these sorts of leftist utopias, things haven’t been working out as Antifa hoped. They’re already running out of food, as homeless people are reportedly stealing provisions. The good news is they’re apparently still nourished enough to be picky, as communist foot soldiers are specifically requesting vegan-friendly replenishments:
72 hours after the establishment of the #CapitalHillAutonomousZone, there are apparently already food shortages.
#SeattleAutonomousZone now has a warlord. It’s been 2 days.
Raz Simone, a local rapper with an AK-47 slung from his shoulder and a pistol attached to his hip, screamed, “This is war!” into a white-and-red megaphone and instructed armed paramilitaries to guard the barricades in shifts. Later in the night, Simone was filmed allegedly assaulting multiple protestors who disobeyed his orders, informing them that he was the “police” now, sparking fears that he was becoming the de facto warlord of the autonomous zone.
How ironic, not even a couple days into a utopia spawned from protests against police brutality, and “protestors” are already learning what actual police brutality looks like.
– The Seattle Police Department and attached court system are beyond reform. We do not request reform, we demand abolition. We demand that the Seattle Council and the Mayor defund and abolish the Seattle Police Department and the attached Criminal Justice Apparatus. This means 100% of funding, including existing pensions for Seattle Police. At an equal level of priority we also demand that the city disallow the operations of ICE in the city of Seattle.
– In the transitionary period between now and the dismantlement of the Seattle Police Department, we demand that the use of armed force be banned entirely. No guns, no batons, no riot shields, no chemical weapons, especially against those exercising their First Amendment right as Americans to protest.
– We demand a retrial of all People in Color currently serving a prison sentence for violent crime, by a jury of their peers in their community.
– We demand the abolition of imprisonment, generally speaking…
Did you get that? If police want to be welcomed back into the city, they just need to….abolish the police! Seems self-defeating to me, but bear in mind I don’t have a fancy liberal arts degree from an Ivy League school.
Additional ‘demands’ include:
— Granting felons in prison the unrestricted right to vote
— The “de-gentrification” of Seattle
— Free college
— Socialized healthcare, which is to be funded by the money saved from abolishing the police
Fear not, though, for Assistant Police Chief Deanna Nolette and other department figures are seeking out CHAZ leadership to negotiate a roadmap to peace so that the community can “move forward together.” It is curious that the police want to move forward with their new city leaders, however, seeing as how Nolette has herself acknowledged reports of armed people manning the check points intimidating people trying to enter the CHAZ city limits.
“While Washington is an open carry state, there is no legal right for those arms to be used intimidate community members,” Nolette said, adding that operating a citizen checkpoint on a public street is illegal.
You reckon, Chief?
“We have heard anecdotally of citizens and businesses being asked to pay a fee to operate within this area; this is crime of extortion,” Nolette said.
And why would an Assistant Police Chief need to hear about public shakedowns of business owners ‘anecdotally?’ Because they have zero control of the city, of course. Business owners who have been doing everything possible just to keep their heads above water with the coronavirus lockdowns are now literally paying off street thugs to keep their businesses—and possibly themselves—alive. I’ve never been so embarrassed and enraged for my country.
As for the ongoing negotiations between authorities and the newly installed thug government, Christopher R. Rufo reports the following for City Journal:
According to one Seattle police officer with knowledge of internal deliberations, the city’s “leadership is in chaos” and “the mayor has made the decision to let a mob of 1,000 people dictate public safety policy for a city of 750,000.” The officer said that Chief Best had dispatched high-ranking police officials to the autonomous zone to establish a line of communication, but the officials were immediately sent away by armed paramilitaries at the barricades. “The tide of public opinion is on the side of the activists and they’re pushing the envelope as far as they can,” said the officer. “It’s not hyperbolic to say the endgame is anarchy.”
It’s easy to sit back and say that the people of Seattle are getting what they deserve. The city has been dying a slow death for years, yet they continue to vote for the same feckless Democrat leaders that have only served to assist in the city’s suicide. Perhaps there is some truth to that school of thought. Maybe the citizens of Seattle are getting the leftist utopia they asked for. Maybe they do deserve to suffer.
The problem is, much of the rest of the country do not deserve that fate, and Seattle is not an island. No city is.
If a major American city is handed over to lawless thugs who openly threaten, harass, extort and attack law-abiding citizens without repercussions, it will happen elsewhere. It’s not a matter of if but when. This disease has infected our entire country. As mentioned above, it’s made its way through our institutions for decades and has now reached a point where it must be confronted lest it kills us outright. We have many things to address in this country, starting with education. Things like Critical Race Theory and the rewriting of American history by men like Howard Zinn must be addressed robustly if we’re to have any hope of reversing the brainwashing that is disguised as modern education.
But we must extinguish this fire before exploring how it started. When uniformed authorities are held captive in their own cities, we no longer have a republic. We have a country under siege, and the American people understand that simple fact. President Trump cannot afford to be a spectator as the very notion of legitimate law and order is challenged and outright defeated in front of our very eyes.
Today it’s Seattle, tomorrow it’s Atlanta. Then Chicago, New York, Los Angeles and every other major city until we are destroyed from within. And once we’ve rotted from within, our enemies abroad are all but certain to ensure our destruction from without.
Mr. President, you must address the nation. You must lay out the outrageous circumstances under which our countrymen have been subjected. It’s not only a good political move for you, it is absolutely vital for the survival of our Republic. Talk to the People. They will understand. Not on Twitter or through drive-by press gaggles, but from the Oval Office, as that is exactly what this situation demands. Then, take action.
We are at a turning point in our country. We are either going to sacrifice civil society at the altar of a politically correct mob, or we will rise up and take back what our forefathers fought to build.
We will fight for our country, Mr. President. We will fight for you. Please, for the country we all love and want to leave to our children, lead the way.
